I have a 4 GB HD system, with 2 GB for Windoze 98 and 2 GB for Red Hat 7.2.
Now I want to learn Debian and the library here has an O'Reilly book by Bill
McCarty that has Debian in it, although it is an older one(2.1).

I hate freakin' Windows, and I would like to throw the Debian on that other
2 GB partition, but can I do that without screwing up what I have on the RH
partition and my setup with LILO?

I had Windows on there first, and Windows created the partitions first, then
with Red Hat I split that half into the 3 necessary partitions with the Disk
Druid.

If this is not possible, how do reinstall RH and Debian, and in what order?

Use Redhat to first delete the Win98 partition and create the new Linux partition or create the partition during the Debian install.

Since you can share swap partitions, you could just use the existing Win98 partition space for the Debian root partition.

Install the Debian bootloader into the Debian root partition and then setup the Redhat bootloader to boot both Redhat and Debian.
