Hi all,

I'm running Stormix 2.0.6 and am having problems with Gnome after running the upgrade script. The upgrade script entered the site into my /etc/apt/sources.list file automatically and then ran the update. Everything seemed to go okay until I tried to login. It acts like it wants to enter Gnome but will then just go back to the login screen. Is there a file that I will need to edit to get this to work?

Thanks for the help.

Could you post the error message(s)?

I had the same issue last week.
Actually, I upgraded within the stable tree and had no problems (didn't use the helix install script -- just added the sources to my sources.list manually).
But once I tried to go up to woody, that's when I had this same exact problem.
I had to switch to another virtual teminal, kill gdm, then startx manually and I was up and running but I NEVER figured out what went wrong.
After several days of poking around I just trashed it and reinstalled.
I'm giving it another go from scratch tonight.
Perhaps the same thing will happen and then we can figure it out together! http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif

Thank goodness this is what I call my "adventure" install. I leave one partiton open just for these projects.
The rest of my drive uses a fully functioning Stromix 2.06 -- I love it!

At least when i did it there are no error messages that I recall. When you log in and hit enter, the screen goes black then the login screen reappears. And the provided info (user name and password) are definitely correct.

ColdPack is right......I didn't receive and error message at all. It just returns to the login screen.

KDE, Blackbox, etc., all work fine. I'm just not able to log into Gnome.

Thanks for the help.
