Anybody know how well the alien package works? It allows you to install redhat RPMs using dpkg, but I have my doubts it will let you install anything that really affects the system. I'm going to give it a shot and try to install kudzu which I think is a very handy program (some say it makes things too easy) after I back my system up.

It works very well. I hadn't thought of installing kudzu but it seems like a good idea.

Damn tried it and kudzu seg faults on me could be kudzu itself or it could be that it didn't translate across very well. let me know how it worked with you.

it works, write to conf.modules instead of modules.conf (could be the other way around) which Debian doesn't seem to like. It didn't detect my non-functioning sound card so I guess it's fried. system seems to be fully operaional though.
