I read an article in a linux mag where they tested notebooks among which was a Vaio PCG-Z600 TEK. They sad everything works fine except the modem couldn't be made to work...

If you read my question correctly, I was asking if anyone has seen Linux on a Sony VAIO with their own eyes...not read about it in an article. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

not sure how it would be any different than linux on any other machine...

except that VIAO's are phatty.
(in a thin sort of way)

Do you mean those ultra thin VIAO's are you just talking about any ol' sony viao in general?

I have seen 4 or 5 at my LUG with various distros running on them. My intial reaction was "why are you using a laptop in a pub you anti-social freak". It was very nice and looked much the same as a desktop machine running Linux all be it on a smaller screen. Still if you can afford a Vaio they're great toys.
