the other day i downloaded mandrake72-inst.iso and mandrake72-ext.iso. evidently these are image files of the insatllation CDs for Linux-mandrake 7.2. I burned both of these files onto two different CDs. However, I am not sure where to go from here because I do not know how to install using iso files. Could someone please help?
thankyou

if you 'created' a cd from the iso files, you now have a bootable cd
if you are loading it onto a pc with no other operating systems:
make sure your pc is set to boot from cdrom (go into bios settings), and then you just boot the pc, the install program will start running from the cd
if you want to load it onto a pc with winders and do a 'dual-boot' then you need to do some reading first or you might loose your Windows system
check these:

Also make sure that you burned it as an image and not just as a regular file.

Im not sure which one I burned it as. How do I burn it as an image?
depends on the software that you are using, http://www.linux-mandrake.com/howtos/iso/howtoisoen.html

I just had my sister burn me a couple of Mandrake 7.2 CD's from the .iso images. The first install CD worked perfect but the second got hosed up somehow. She thinks she failed to close the second CD burn and that is why the install proggy won't find it. I took a look at the files on the second CD and they show up as LM RPM's in a file named "RPM2".
Am I right in assuming that the closure process after a burn is when the table of contents for the CD gets written? If so that would explain it, otherwise it could have been just a corrupted download.

I know of a lot of people who couldn't install the second disk of Mandrake 7.1...it was a scandal. Maybe same problem.
