HOW CAN I REMOVE LINUX AND RESTORE PARTITIONS

If you're using Windows 95/98/Me, run "fdisk /mbr" which would get rid of any Linux boot loader you have on the drive. Then use Fdisk to delete the linux partitions.
If you're using 2000, go to the "restore console" thing and run the commands for restoring the boot sector.
With NT you need to use the repair process and restore the boot stuff.

Why remove Linux? An operating system can't run without it. GNU/Linux without its kernel becomes GNU. Anyway, rm -f /boot/vmlinuz*

I love these questions. Not only are they followed by stunned linuxers comments, but the sad part is that in most cases there is no real reason to do it. Most of the time it's written by someone that got stuck on a single problem, but doesn't have enough experience or patience to try to find out what went wrong. I feel bad each time I see one though. When linux does become more mainstream, instead of being ahead of the curve, he'll be one of the last ones to try it, because it messed up the first time he tried it.

How would ou remove linux if it is on its own harddrive. I wont be getting rid of it totally. I'm going to move it to a 7200 rpm drive.

If you really want to get rid of it try this,
in linux type cfdisk as user root and delete all the partitions, then reboot with windows or DOS bootdisk and type fdisk /mbr if you had lilo or the grub on the mbr, then you are rid of it.
