well its time for me to partition my hardrive again and just want to know if diskdrake is safe...(for the first time i partitioned my hardrive i used partition magic 6 everything went well until it told me to reboot. i rebooted the computer and all i got was "stage1" and a blinking cursor! me being nervous i used system restore(i have when me too)so i can set my computer back to and early date.the same thing happen! i installed linux back on then everything was okay.wtf! so does that mean i didn't have to use system restore and just had to install linux?

I've never had any problems with DiskDrake - as long as you know how partitioning works it should be OK -
I don't know anything about Partition Magic though - I'd almost just suggest getting rid of it and just using Lilo.

make sure you have a backup before messing with partitions, regardless of the program you are using

If you were redoing your HD completely, then you should have used a dos/win9x boot disk with fdisk and run fdisk /mbr to restore the mbr.

If you are doing a fresh install, then Diskdrake is the easiest and best of the partitioning programs available, If you are using Drake 7.2 then there are a couple of options open to you, you can let Diskdrake use any available space, or you can use the wizard and set your own partitions.

Edit. If you have Windows installed DiskDrake will not touch your Windows partition, unless you tell it to.
