I want to buy a second keyboard, and it will be with a USB interface.

I have a question: how to configure XFree 4.0 to use USB keyboard instread of primary PS/2?

I tried to use SaX2 from SuSE, but I have not found any directive for keyboard device like mouse configuration have.

In general, I want to make this configuration:
Display #1: XFree 3.3, AGP video adapter, PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mouse
Display #2: XFree 4.0, PCI video adapter, USB keyboard, Serial mouse

Woof, right? ;-)

I can only guess at this but I think a USB keyboard will act like a normal PS/2 one. This is only a guess though since the only USB device I have is a printer and I use the parallel cable option for that.

I can't guess at what it would do with two keyboards, one native PS/2 and one fake PS/2 (USB).

As I understand from some documentation, USB keyboard have a device file like /dev/input/*

maybe this is exactly that I need?

Like I said, I don't know. I thought USB devices were /dev/usb/<usual device name>.

I'm sure it will work without much fuss but two keyboards on machine might need some xkb tweaking. I've never done it before.

Okay, I still want to try. Tomorrow will buy the keyboard and try this thing.

If anybody know any good tips on my idea, please post them here.

When I had a USB keyboard installed I didn't have any issues configuring X at all. I just plugged in the USB kb and it worked exactly the same way as it did before. But that was only with one kb, so I'm not sure how it will work with 2.
