What file [in debian] do i need to edit so that whenever i log in it runs that command.

[the command if you care is fortune -s]

System:
Debian [Potato]
P100 w/32mb ram
CLI ONLY

Depends on if you want to run it for everybody or just you .
Let's assume just you, then it's ~/.profile. That is 99% probably the directory you are in after you first login.
