Runlevel designates what to run when it starts...0 and 6 are for shutdown or whatever...If you want a GUI login, press 5, if you want a normal login, type 3 or 4.
Hi,
I have tried like you said ,
press 3,4,5 or 6
after i press one of those number , it will appear like this and nothing happen :
INIT: Entering runlevel: 5
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel
hmm.. whats the problem ? i cant even enter linux.. help ! please

i have had a prob kinda like this, and here is what MY situation was. I used partition majic, and somehow I "hid" WIN and the MBR....don't ask how, I have a linux guru fix mine, and it was actually an EZ fix. If this is what you have done, I pray you made a PM boot disk, load it up and check the settings, hope this helped

Try reinstalling Mandrake again (reformatting the partitions also during setup), since this seems like a installation gone bad/sour.
When it says that there are 'no more processes in runlevel', it generally means that the '/etc/rc.d/init.d/' and '/etc/rc.d/rc[n].d/' directories are empty or corrupted.
Hope that helps? :)
