I have one machine running Windows ME and another running RedHat 6.1... On my windows I have an external cable modem that would adjust to an @HOME connection (according to the Cable-Modem Linux FAQ), and a Proxy app by AnalogX that gives me partial cover of the internet connections from other machines... this worked fine in a Windows based network.
But, after configuring Netscape, I can't seem to get linux to surf.... it looks for my machine (the IP address and the port) but doesn't find it.
Any tips?? Help would be great.

Can you ping your Windows box? Check the connection. If that fails then I can only say:

This has been posted before. Read those posts and then check your config again.

If that doesn't work, post your config here so I can see what's going wrong. Tell me your Netscape settings, Windows box settings, and any firewall type stuff.

Ok.. I don't really know if this has anything to do with my internet connection, but maybe it does... Setting Samba up has been a pain in the ***.. on my linux machine, I have a generic (encore) NIC and on my Win I have 2 NICs.. an encore and a 3com card.. one connected to the cable modem and the other to a hub.

If I specify WINS resolution or the gateway, my internet connection on Windows dies.

Hmm... is there any other way?
