RH8 & XP Pro

I have a RH8 server that I linked to my xp machine. I am trying to have the RH box run through my XP laptop to access the internet. I cant seem to properly set this up, I can ping the RH box, but dont know how to ping from the linux box. CAn anyone help me out? Also I have appache running and cant configure samba, will not connect to port (the connection was refused when attempting to connect to 127.0.0.1:901) ?????

What do you mean you don't know how to ping from the linux box? just type "ping <hostname>" in at a console.
