install help please

I have built a new computer and can not get redhat 7.3,8.0
mandrake 9.0 to install. In 7.3 I install the first 2 CD's and load the packages on the 3rd CD and it stops during " preparing final configuration". I never get to set-up X, it just stops.
I thought it maybe a hardware problem, but searches say I'm O.K.

Epox 8K5a w/sound
AMD 2200 xp+
Crucial 512 DDR 2100
Maxtor ATA133 80 gig
Lite-on CD-RW

Any ideas would be greatly welcomed.

is plug and play turned off in the bios? if it isn't try turning it off and installing again.

I read that during one of my many google searchs and checked the BIOS and it is disabled.

What happens with the other distros/versions? Do you get as far or do you get any error messages etc.?

With some hardware, you need to add

nodma
or
noapic
or
noacpi

to the initial installation boot prompt.

All the installs end in the same way.
I will give your suggestion,about applying those switchs and see what happens. Thanks for the idea.
