Raoul_Duke 12-05-2002, 08:03 AM openoffice.org :) mrBen 12-05-2002, 08:31 AM Abiword also has limited .DOC capabilities, plus there is a little command line tool called antiword that will convert your .DOC files for you. But OO.o rules the roost at the moment :) jglen490 12-05-2002, 11:03 AM Almost all the better Linux word processors have some .doc compatibility; and are getting better at it. They also do .rtf formats, which Winword picks up without skipping a beat. bigrigdriver 12-05-2002, 05:38 PM Another good option, if you can still find it, is StarOffice 5.2 (from Sun, still free). As of version 6.0, it isn't free. I've been using StarOffice for a couple of years, moving or copying files back and forth between my Linux and windo$e partitions. StarOffice handles msoffice files well, and msoffice doesn't complain when I create a file in StarOffice and save it as a msoffice file and move or copy it over to the windo$e side. justlinux.com
