I finally got ArchLinux installed and I have configured the main files, but I have a problem when trying to boot using a floppy boot disk. It seems to display the message, after the filesystem(ext3) is loaded and is the last message to show before stopping.

Warning, Unable to open an initial console.

I tried mounting AL using a Slackware 8.0 lilo boot disk and I got the same error message.

What the heck does this mean and how can I fix it?

I would guess it could be due to lots of reasons.

See if any of these (you guessed it) G4L search results for "Unable to open an initial console" (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22Unable+to+open+an+initial+console%22) pertain to your problem.

Thanks MD...I did a search after I posted and still working on the problem. But I will keep you informed when I get a solution.
