I updraded to Helix Gnome, with the live auto updater thingie... after it finished donloading and installing everything it needed to reboot X. I closed prgrams and clicked "yes" which did nothing.... So I logged out to the X logon prompt, then killed X's pid.. yes I know thats prolly a bad way, but I diddn't want to reboot. Which brings me to my first question, how do I log safefly off X, its set to start on bootup... But my real question is, when it came back it was in tty8 and Gnome disappeared from the X logon prompt. I can get in KDE fine, and when I reboot my system, X returned to tty7 but the option for Gnome was still not on the dropdown box of window managers.... Anyone know where I can add it, and what the general syntax for accessing it...
Another question I have is how to exit reading a man page.. I hate getting into the habit of just killing pids, but I can't seem to close the full terminal screen man page reader. Which also brings me to my last question, how do I clear or restart a either frozen, or screwed up virtual console (tty1-tty6) It must be a key command because generally there is no prompt and Ctrl - C does not do it... THANKS so much for any help!

Well, to quit a man page hit "q". I think that should do it.
As for adding gnome to your graphical login manager using kdm... I dunno. Sorry. I have done it using gdm but don't know how with kdm. I, too, would be interested in this answer.

you can add gnome to kdm through login manager in KDE... I believe it's in the control-center...

The Control Panel will only allow you to enter the name of another windows manager (like Gnome or KDE)...there's no way to direct it to the actual Helix Gnome source.

I'm really curious how to enable Gnome again as well!
