There exists an excellent how-to on this subject. It works and is easy enough for anyone to understand.

It works and is easy enough for anyone to understand. http://www.halley.cc/ed/linux/howto/fonts.html darren7659 12-01-2002, 09:01 AM Bhangra on ucol wrote this a short while ago: Create a folder in your home directory and call it .fonts Remember the preceding '.' Copy all your true-type fonts into the directory. Voila, system-wide recognition of your tt fonts timmah 12-02-2002, 06:19 PM How close is this to what you'd have to do in MDK 9.0? oghanchi 12-08-2002, 09:56 PM I copied the fonts under the following directory in Mandrake 9.0: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/ And that was it. It took me a while to get everything adjusted though, but it works now. The main reason I did it was to be able to read Arabic in Linux. But the fonts work a lot better in RH8, they don't look as crude as in MDL9, even though I have anti aliasing on. I didn't have to do any adjusting in RH though. Hope this helps. :) bootdoc 12-13-2002, 01:11 AM what is the benefit of adding true type fonts to RH 8. oghanchi 12-14-2002, 01:56 PM The main reason for it was to be able to read Arabic in Konqueror. Now the only reason I have to boot into Windows is to be able to use MSN Messenger (for video conference with my family half way around the world!). Other than that, I can do everything in Linux. :) :D JediSthlm 12-16-2002, 08:06 AM One thing, I´ve added a bunch of fonts, including Verdana, how do get Opera to understand that I got Verdana installed? Now when surfing the web I always get Arial. The problem is that most sites use Verdana and it looks better. Anyone knows? JediSthlm justlinux.com
