The only reason I even am trying to install linux is:
I used to love to play games on my pc but now I have other intrests, and I dont need windows anymore. When I saw linux I thought it looked interesting, so here I am. I just wanted to do a full install of linux, So I checked all my hardware, to my suprise, everything was supported on mandrake's site.
Ok ok so I decided to download it (because I am cheap, well its more like I dont have any money), but when I got in to the ftp server I didnt know what to download. So I went back to researching on the internet and found a tutorial for redhat, It wasnt that clear either on what I should download so I downloaded the two ISO's for redhat under assumption and burned them to two cd's the way they told me to, im wondering what else I need because I saw many other files there.

I dont mind downloading mandrake either, I just need someone to tell me what to download and where to put it.

The ISO files are "cd-rom image files". They are exact images of the retail cd's you can buy. You use them to to burn the bootable cd-rom's for installation. once they are downloaded, burn them to a cd. The burning software that you are using may have some effect on how to burn them. If you are using adaptec, you can just doublclick on the file, or right click on the file and choose "write to cd"(or however it is worded).

Here is the page http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ftp.php3#iso

Scroll down to the heading: "Mandrake Linux 8.1 ISO images mirrors for i586 and higher" you can choose from the mirrors listed.

There will be 3 ISO's to download. Hopefully you're not on a 56K http://discussions.linuxplanet.com/biggrin.gif
