I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I can no longer use any window managers. KDE doesn't load (although this could be unrelated, as I haven't installed KDE before this), and every GTK-based WM doesn't load and gives a missing shared file error. Reinstalling the WM doesn't help, and I've even tried re-installing the C++ libraries with no luck.

The last thing I did before it stopped working was remove Mozilla, as I wanted to compile my own for performance reasons. That didn't work for some reason, so I re-installed the Mozilla package that came with Linux. I haven't been able to use any WM since.

System specs (if needed):
Celeron 533
256MB RAM
Geforce 2 MX
Slackware 8.0
Custom-compiled Xfree86 4.1

do you have specific errors? "no window managers work" is kinda vague :) i've had great luck in debugging X and window manager problems so far..

Well, it's a bit too late as I have reformatted and re-installed Linux, and then reformatted and went back to Windows 2000 :)

Sorry that I wasn't more specific, but basically every program in the slackware GTK branch failed to load, with an error about not being able to load a library. That's as specific as I can get. Sorry :(
