Hey, guys I'm installing tonight RedHat 7.1 , and im exited wooo !!, I have a question. I'm runing WIn98, im using 1 gb , and i have 13gb free. im going to partition wiht partitionmagic to not lose iinformation of the win98, How many Gb's i should give to red hat ?? im goign to do the full custom install

Ideally I would say 14 G - but you may wnat to keep win98 so.... 3 G is more than enough for a truckload of stuff, but just to be on the safe side you i would alocate 6 G - just so you don't have to worry about the 8.4 G lilo proplem, which you should not have anyway because redhat 7.1 does hav ethe newer version of lilo which can boot above the 1024 cylinder limit.

i would allocate about 6-7 GB for linux (including swap file). About the 8.4 GB lilo limit, it doesnt exist anymore. All recent distro's of linux have upgraded their lilo so it isnt a problem. It is just a matter of adding the line lba32 to their /etc/lilo.conf

you can give more to linux, but i dont recommend it. It seems like you will still be using windows as your primary OS until you figure Red Hat out and get it set up. I dual booted for a long time. The only reason i stopped is because i built a new system :)
