i have a problem booting into linux. i have tried to edit my lilo.conf file but when i do it says that 'dev\hdh5 is not on the first disk'. i do not understand what this means. i have three partitions; swap, boot, and root. can someone please help me.

Just guesses based on your message, but it would be "dev/hda5" I think....
Also, except for I think the very newest versions of Lilo, the boot partition has to be within the first 1024 cylindars on the hard drive (about the first 2Gig) - it won't boot from partitions farther into the drive than that.

i think it is about 8 gb on newer mobos, although it may depend on the bios
