which distribution are you trying to use? red hat? mandrake?

the red hat web site (http://redhat.com) has a hardware compatibility list (http://redhat.com/support/hardware)

a search for winbond show it listed as using the Kernel Module: ne2k-pci.o being model 89C940

don't know if that will help

debian's website is kinda weird... they say that their distro will support the hardware that the kernel supports. Then they give a link to http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Hardware-HOWTO.html
However, this link doesn't list the Winbond card. If I use the module that RH lists, do I have any chance of success? Just wondering.
