Well, trying to upgrade to Xfree 4.0.2 officially messed me up. I foled the directions in the NHF and on the XFree site.
I tried some stuff I saw here and that didn't work.
Another funny thing is that is doesn't give me any real error message to work with.
I installed all the packages using Xinstall.sh. Then I ran xf86config. Fine. No errors. Then I ran the command that it told me to. XFree -configure <something> XF<something>.new
Sorry, but I didn't write it down (I was breaking things around the room :P ). It then starts to test XFree by running it. The grayish screen with the "X" mouse cursor shows up (skewed a tad, tho). It just sits there doing nothing. If I try to move the mouse around it jumps in the upper left hand corner and bounces around up there.
I then have to kill X with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. Depressing.
I am running RH 6.0.
I tried killing xfs and stopping it from running on startup (as suggested in a message here). No dice. I tried some mouse tweaks. Nada.
BROTHERS!!
I implore you! I had gotten to the point where I could use Linux 80% of the time. The other 20% was saved for games on Windoze. I haven't spent this much time in Windoze for a month and a half! I'm starting have withdrawl pains! http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
Any ideas to try are appreciated, friends!
BTW, I'm waiting on my Stormix Hail 2.0.6 package! Damned Fedex bastards!!
SIERRA HOTEL, ROGER WILCO, BRAVO ZULU, and goodnight!
