I am trying to setup my work machine to run linux. I can ping my DNS servers, I can ping the default gateway, and I can browse the internal network pages, but I can't get anything past the corporate network. I do a traceroute on an outside address, and once it leaves the company's network, I never hear back from it.

Any ideas on what is happening, and how to fix it?

(RedHat 7)
Thanks

does your company run a proxy server that you have to go through?

if you aren't sure, then go to a winders pc and check the internet options inside of IE and see if it has a proxy server listed

yes, that is why you need to see if there is a proxy server. most companies "firewall" you in, ie you won't be able to get to any outside ip's, unless you "go through" a proxy server (proxy allows access through the firewall to the internet)

see if you can check for a proxy inside the IE properties on a winders pc, bet that is what is up ;)

I'm fairly certain that this is the case.

IE uses the "Automatically detect settings" option, so I'm not sure.
