How do I access a windows 2000 server hard drive over a network. I have a data drive in my W2K machine and I want to access it over the network. I have been do some research, will Samba allow me to do that or is it just for other os's to access linux? I don't need users accessing my Linux box, I just need to acces the W2k box from my Red Hat 7. I have tried several times to install samba and have not been able to do it successfully. I have seen alot of different ways to do it just to get confused in the middle of it. If Samba is used for that, can you provide me with good documentation for the install? I just downloaded the 2.2.1a ver. of Samba and the docs are scattered everywhere, I don't know where to begin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh yea, as if you could not tell, I am extremely new to this

Thanks!

I don't think you need samba just the samba client. But I'm not 100% sure.

There's the Samba NHF (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/network/samba/samba1.html) though I don't know how good it is.

You've tried the docs at www.samba.org (http://www.samba.org) ?

Also try the free online Samba book available at Informit (http://infobase.informit.com/linux/).
