I recently installed RH8.0 on a new computer, having killed my old one trying to upgrade to Mandrake 9.0 (that's another stroy)
I don't know what other people's thoughts are, but having previously used Mandrake with the Gnome interface, I don't really like RH's version of Gnome - Linux only colleagues of mine haved argued that all GUIs are for wimps and you should learn bash/terminal based interaction.
Anyway, my question is can the RH version of Gnome be removed and the Gnome version of Gnome 2 be installed (relatively painlessly?). How could it be done and where could I find installation scripts to ensure that all the packages on the Gnome website are correctly installed?
Many thanks for any assistance
