I get the (obvious) error message that it can't be started because another window manager is running.

So how do i shut down my current WM and start fluxbox???

I'm running RH8 and using Window Manager

What wm are you currently running? You may have to alter your .xsession or .xinirc file.

Let us know.

Check to see if you have a file called .xsession in your home directory ( I am assuming you boot right into the GUI).

Let me know and I'll send you instructions on how to alter it.

Try CTRL+ALT+DELETE then startx
