Hi all...I finally get rp-ppoe to work...
I was using pmfirewall before with the 2.2 kernel and it worked fine...But, now, on the webpage of pmfirewall, they says that pmfirewall for 2.4 kernel is still in alpha test so, unavaible...I tryed gShield but i get a lot of errors messages...like kernel must be upgraded. That was for gShield 2.7
the newest one...So I was wondering, If I try an older version of gShield, will this work? My kernel is 2.4.2-2 redhat 7.1
Or, if you got any better ideas, please tell me this is the main idea behind this post..

Thanks much

The 2.2 kernel uses the IPchains method for firewalls. This changed with the 2.4 kernel, which uses the IPtables method (supposedly an easier setup). Any firewall software you use in the 2.4 kernel should use IPtables.

There's an NHF for IPtables here at LNO; I suggest you check it out.

In the 2.4 kernel config, if you disable netfilter you get an option to enable ipchains. If you're comfortable with your previous setup, I'd recommend this option. This will allow you to use ipchains with your current kernel. Some good firewalls I have found are: http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~dranch/LINUX/index-linux.html
and http://monmotha.mplug.org.
