error with bzflag

Recently installed from source bzflag and when I try to ./bzflag from the bin directory, I get the following error output:


loading fixedbr...

Can't continue without font: fixedbr
Failed to load resources because the 'data'
directory can't be found. Please run bzflag with the data directory as the current directory or provide the location of the data directory using the -directory command line option


The readme file wants to run bzflag with the following line:


./bin/bzflag


I've tried this and I can't get it to work...

do you know if you have any fixedbr font? try re installing bzflag (how did you install it anyways?) and see if something was left out.

I tried this


./bzflag -directory /usr/share/local/bzflag/data


And it turned the screen black.

I have no idea what it did, I'll I'm trying to do is run this game.
