Can you ping your linux box and ping your w2k box from each other?... If you can you can get analog x proxy and setup a proxy server to connect to the internet. It supports w2k i think. just install it on your w2k machine. Tell netscape on your linux box to use a proxy server and there you go. there is a nhf on it righthere (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/network/analogx_winproxy.html)
Hope that i helped :)

As far as your x thing. I would set all of your settings as low as you could. like your resolution and color and stuff...and then working up from there. Using Xconfigurator. I would go to AOC's website and look for your model's specs so you can be as precise as possible about what settings your monitor supports.
Hope that helped a little. :)

it SHOULD work without 3rd person software....

Well I think all that microsoft's proxy will do it let your machines browse the internet. If your wanting to share files and all of that, that will happen through samba when you get that setup. But what all do you have to do with the little network that your setting up?

Oh i see. You want to use the little internet sharing package. Im not sure how all of that works in relation to linux. I think it will be easier to just use a proxy. But what do i know :) I havent heard of anyone doing this before successfully. But it can probably be done somehow. :)

Found a post that should fix your problems for you if Win98Se internet sharing is the same as w2k (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=13&t=000334)
It should at least give you an idea of how to make it work.

besides take over the world.. nothing much...
the 98se box is GPX/general workstation, the 2000 is Internet, file server, ftp server,cd burner, dvd player <pant> :D
the linux will end up (eventually ) being samba server (duh) possibly web server, and just general "practice " for my new major (cpt)
heres the issue... at PU your only allowed 1 ip address, so i have one ip to work with, the one that will be on my 2000 box... sharing your internet conn works (we tried it last year) for internet AND network neighborhood.. except on a system like my 98 box you can "see" the other systems on the main Net, but they cant see you. At least, from what i recall... i currently have to work with MACs whicj=h is slowly sucking away my brain
