is there a firewall by default under RH 8.0 or do i have to configure it in some way?

Did you choose a security level on installation? You can reconfigure the firewall with redhat-config-securitylevel

You can configure the default firewall (iptables) by typing lokkit at the command line. Or get guarddog (see my sig) if you need more specific configuration options.

Yes i did configure the securitylevel during install.
I just wanted to make shure i had some kind of protection. What kind of settings would you recommend....high or medium? And could this affect my gaming online say for instance with Quake 3?

Tried out the lokkit-command but nothing happend?
Was up with that.....

Oh just wanted to say that Ive been running RH8 now for about 10 days and im very satisfied with it.
Just hope I will be able to understand the filesystem and installation of new software like rpm. Its pretty much to learn in the beginning......but ill keep at it!
