Shortcuts in Mandrake

Need help adding shortcuts to the desktop in mandrake 8.1. I found how to do this in the KDE desktop, but in the gnome, I've only found how to add them to the quick launch bar.

If you're using Nautilus to draw the desktop, then you can drag menu items straight off the menu and onto the desktop, creating a copy of the shortcut.

I had to check the "use nautilus to draw desktop" box under the preferences. Thx, drag and drop is a good thing.
