HI All

I would like to make some changes to my ifcfg-ppp0 file. I know I could use the graphical interface, but I like the challenge of manually editing the file ;)

I have discovered that there are three such files on my system. Cannot remember the exact path names off the top of my head. All are located under '/etc/sysconfig'. One is under '/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices', one under something called "network-scripting" (I think), and somewhere nearby in a directory called 'default'.

My question is, which one should I edit? or do I need to make the same changes to all of them?

I have also noticed there are several 'resolv.conf' files on my system. When making changes to this file, which one should I edit? What is the function of the other files of the same name?

Thanks, ben

Never knew there were so many of them..... some might be examples, some might be archived copies left behind by some other editing.
My sig mentions FHS as a link, you might be able to get an answer there, but it is not a fun read, being technical and all that. Other members here are a better shot.
Anyway, FHS is not forced to always be used by a distro.... some distros go far to get away from FHS.

It is probably the one under network-scripts.

I use ifcfg-eth0 and dont use ppp anymore. But I think this is the dir you want.
