Do you have by any chance two terminals open or are you logged into a virtual console? At the moment "who" shows I'm logged in seven times to my box: On tty1 (that's where I typed "startx") on tty2 (doing stuff there) and also I'm logged in on pts/1 - pts/5 (those are xterms I have running.)

So what do you have running?
Are you using any console type applications that are running in a term window?
Whenever I have a term window open, or am running mutt in a console window, it shows that I'm logged in more than once.
I think it has something to do with something called UTMP. Don't know what it stands for. I found reference to it in the wterm documentation, and it does have it's own man page, but I haven't taken the time to digest and try to understand it yet. :)
