Yopy PDA?

Hello,

Anyone know if this device is still scheduled to roll out to the consumer? Did some checking at various sites and can't find anything conclusive? Is there another PDA that has the same features? TIA :confused:

I've been trying to find a Yopy in the United States for nearly a year now with no luck. I also haven't had much luck finding an international shipper that looks safe, nor news regarding the bizarre delays. Maybe there's been some news in the past couple months though; I haven't checked.

The Yopy is very close to identical to the iPaq in terms of hardware, but getting Linux to run on the iPaq is a bit of a chore as I understand it.

cool thanks for responding...I just did a search on the forum and saw some better feedback than what I'm getting elsewhere..this is the best site!!!...I'm plugging my questions here from now on...
There doesn't seem to be anyway to contact the people at Gmate for updates. I'd like to know one way or the other about this thing and move on

I don't want to have to configure anything out of the box...Yopy seems to be the one I want..maybe we can all put our heads together and get a straight answer from them

Wasn't it close to a year and a half ago that Maximum Linux actually had a functional Yopy in their hand, and wrote a full review of it?

Now, Maximum Linux is dust, and we still have no Yopy in the United States (or anywhere in Europe, as far as I know). The one Maximum Linux had appeared to be fully translated into English, so it's not like they got hung up on translation -- the Yopy that Maximum Linux had looked ready to ship.

I'm going to try to find some more news. I wanted one last Christmas, but maybe they'll be out by this Christmas.

Yopy's official North American release date:
May, 2000

got an update from one of the people at Gmate and linuxdevices.com:

"Thank you for your concern of the YOPY.
The commercial version of the YOPY will be released in November 2001.
I am sorry that you have to wait further."
