What is this and why do I need it? How should I configure it. Thank you.

RAID means Redundant Array of Independent Disks. It is a series of disks working together to improve access speed and reliability. I don't know why it would say RAID ARRAY, and you probably don't need it, unless you have say 5 hard disks (you can do it with fewer, but its usually not worth it).

I guess the minimum # of disks is 3. At a very intuitive level, you could say that there's some kind of arithmetic done with the data on your disks. If you have 6 on your disk A and 4 on your disk B there's gonna be a 10 on your disk C. In case one disk goes away for good you'll be able to recover all data on any of the missing disks based on the information on the other two (4=10-6, 6=10-4, etc.) This of course with lots of redundant stuff and basically waste of storage space. I saw this only at big companies in production systems.
Raid Array(?) BIOS is probably a way to set RAID options directly from BIOS.

mviverette: Where did you see this? That helps.

howalsky: Almost... It depends which RAID level you are running. With hard drives and GB so cheap these days, it isn't a waste of space for anyone who does anything important. Yes, there are probably other ways to safeguard/protect your system.

(Type RAID in the box... lmao...)

I hit the power button...

Then I see:

Voodoo 3 BIOS...Award Modular BIOS...ATA-100 RAID CONTROLLER BIOS.

Under Raid Controller Bios:
Create Array
Array Settings
Etc.

Oh, you have a RAID controller. I doubt you have a RAID setup. Can you ignore it?

This question belongs in the Hardware forum. You will probably get a better response there.

Yeah I can ignore it, I was just looking for info on it... What is it and what does it do?

You have a RAID controller. You can create RAIDs with multiple hard drives. You can find the definition for RAIDs in the link I provided above.
