Hello:
After working, learning and asking for help it is my pleasure to announce that I have removed my Windows 2000 partition, reinstalled RH 7.3 and with only a few details left to take care of and our home is now a Microsoft code-free zone. Mr. Gates has been fired and
Bill has left the building!
The only disapointment is that my RH 8.0 disks (from EBAY) are not quite right...but a run out to get a boxed version will fix that problem.
Thanks go to many; MDWatts, Gritseater and others. Thanks for your help when I wasn't sure what to do...
Tim

Glad we all could help...
Always good to hear another has made the switch.
The only reason I will install XP or W2K (one of these days) at home is for MS Flight Simulator 2002, the Sidewinder Forcefeedback USB and hopefully hookup the GF3 to my widescreen TV.
Other than that, all Linux/Unix.

i want to thank md watts too, you responded to my question re: RedHat 8.0 and partition problems. My mobo was faulty and I swapped it (to no avail) but eventually found the solution......Mandrake 9.0. Worked fine, no install/partition issues....does the job for me.......hmmm..next stop is debian i believe ; )
thanks heaps all you effort IS appreciated

Frankly, the support here has been great! I recall getting help with MS Access years ago, but it wasn't better; and that is a commercial product.
I was speaking with a friend a few days ago about Linux. She currently uses XP but is very intrigued about Linux. She's a network support tech at the local Public safety building/courthouse. THey run novell and Windows machines, BUT THIER MISSION-CRITICAL 911 system is run by SCO Unix! I didn't think make the connections and the implications until later, but I'm sure I'll mention it sometime. She's given me one of her (older) computers to setup with RH, and we'll see what happens.
