Wont boot

Mandrake 8.0 when i boot i stalls and I get

Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:05

I am still a newbie and it took me so long to get everything running I dont
want to have to reinstall and go through that again

The very popular 'Kernel Panic' error means your boot/root partition cannot be found.

So in order for us to help you, please give us a few more details such as your partitioning scheme, multiple hardrives, if you dualboot and where did you install the bootloader (Grub or Lilo)?
