When I try to listen to an mp3 file in xmms, no sound comes out. It shows the file playing (slider moves, time changes, etc.), but I can't hear anything. What's going on? :confused:

Run sndconfig? Or plug your speakers in =)

*Plugs speakers in* Ok, works now, i didn't think it'd be that simple :p

Seriously though. I ran sndconfig and it told me my sound card isn't supported. So am i out of luck?

Turn up the volume in the mixer?

You may not be out of luck yet. Depending on what sound card you have, if you search the net, you may be able to find someone who has written drivers for your sound card. (It would depend on demand.) Somewhat like Winmodems. But...that's just another messed up story...
