Hi!

I'm trying to install Debian (woody) onto a Compaq Prosignia 300 which I've picked up, but when I get to the boot prompt and press return, it says it is unable to boot. I've tried all of the different flavours, compact, idepci, bf-2.4, vanilla and safe, but none seem to work. I did a bit of looking around and discovered that it has an internal SCSI controller. Is that correct?

Is there any way around this? I'd really like to (and need to) install linux on this machine (preferably Debian). I've had a look around the forums, and found one way around it, but I don't see how it would work, as the floppy has problems booting...

Thanks a lot!

The Prosignia may have a scsi cdrom of which you will need to load the required scsi modules at the beginning of the install process.

Check the Compaq support site as they will have the specs for the Prosignia 300 including what scsi controller.

They may also have documentation on installing Linux on the Prosignia 300 (or similar model). They do have docs to help with installing Linux.
