I finally put all together and started installation of Mandrake 8.1. I booted from cd, Mandrake checked hardware and came to point where the message "probing the ports" appeared. The screen changed into blue ( three different variants of blue) and stayed there. Nothing happened for several minutes. I pressed 'ESC' -nothing, it responded to 'ENTER', I was able to see port inspection for several seconds (black screen with specs) and machine restarted. From there I was able to boot in Windows...never had a chance to install it
I tried to boot from floppy and second cd as well, downloaded cd1.iso again and I got the same. Also I followed up instruction to change PNP OS Installed from Yes to No.
I noticed that failure is related to
"usr\share\locale" and
"usr\share\locale_special" could not be found.
I checked the direcotries and they were in place.
Any idea
