Image scanner as in scanning pictures. I know I should have been more descriptive. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried the Mandrake 9.0 HCL (hardware compatibility list) available on Mandrake's site?

I would think they would include a list of supported scanners.

Yes I have. I looked to make sure every piece of hardware on my computer was on there and it was. The scanner I have now doesn't work and it is on the list. It is on the list for the new versions of Xsane, Sane, and Pulstek that I installed and all the programs are pointing to the correct device. It doesn't work period. It works fine through windows. It has to be a problem with Mandrake. I just need to know some other scanners to try so I can blame myself in stead of my computer or Mandrake. So far this scanner is the only piece of hardware I have any problem with.
I have seen this question asked time and time again about the HP scanjet2200c all over the internet and nobody will ever even answer the question. It has gone unanswered severial times on this forum as well. If somebody could tell me what scanner they are using with Mandrake 9.0 I would be just tickled pink. I'm not an ungrateful lazy person looking for an easy answer. I tried on and off for two weeks just trying to get one device to work when all of the others were not a problem.

Well, I just installed an HP PSC 2110, and it now works flawlessly under Mandrake 9.0. That's printing and scanning. I could be wrong, but I thought that the scanjet 2200 was very similar to the scanning part in my printer, so I don't know why it wouldn't work.

Now, I hate to ask this, but I have to make sure: Do you have the latest hpoj driver installed? Even though Mandrake 9.0 is supposed to com with the hpijs and hpoj drivers, I still had to upgrade my system to get my multifunction to work.

Also, when you try to install the scanner, what happens? Does it say it's installed but then you can't scan? Or does it not even detect anything?

guitargeek-

The newest HPOJ driver won't even detect it, but it does detect my epson printer. Weird. Scannerdrake detects it, list it, and says it's not supported. Wierd also. See attachment. I don't think this scanner will work with Mandrake 9.0 no matter what. I think I might as well go out and buy something like you have because I know now yours works for sure. I think I only paid something like $70 for the 2200c two years ago and I'm sure somebody like my Grandma could put it to good use on windows.

Well, if you still want to give it another shot, you can try here:
http://www.semeniuk.net/linux/hp2200/

Supposedly these drivers will run that scanner, but who knows at this point.

If you DO decide to get one of the multifunction's, go with the one that I got. I've read about a few problems with the cheaper psc 750 under linux.

Wish there was something else I could tell ya.
