Has anyone sucesfully upgraded Suse 7.1, to KDE 2.2. If so how did you do it.

I downloaded all the KDE 2.2 base packages from Suse. Then tried installing them and kdeklibs complains about dependencies. So I wrote down the deps and went to rpmfind and downloaded some more files and still complains about dependencies. Im am getting nowhere with this just going around in cicrles. I tried the --nodeps option and completely screwed up everything.

Right now KDE 2.1 is installed and had no problems going from 2.0 to 2.1.

Hello
SuSE 7.1 specific rpms of KDE 2.2 can be found here (http://ftp.sourceforge.net/pub/mirrors/kde//stable/2.2/SuSE/i386/7.1/)

I would recomend you to allways use rpms from SuSE FTP/CDROM (YaST) if they are not too old. You could rename /opt/kde2 before installing the rpms, as a last option. Hope it help...
(I am using SuSE 7.1 and KDE 2.2 right now)

I upgraded to 2.2 by using Yast. You will not have to deal with dep. probs either.Give it a try.You may find it a much easier way to install packages.
