Hi!
I'm planning to install Windows 2000 Pro & Linux(Mandrake or RedHat) on the same system.
I want to put Windows 2000 on a 20GB HD(primary & boot) and Linux on a separate 4GB HD(secondary) with no partitions at all.
I would like to know if I will be able to use NTFS for my Win2K drive or will it make Linux impossible to boot??
If there are any special instructions to do so, I would be happy to know them! :)
I've also heard about a read-only NTFS driver for Linux, does anybody know where I can find it??
Thanks a lot!
Mike

NTFS support (read-only and readwrite EXPERIMENTAL) is available in the kernel. I'm using 2.2.18 and NTFS appears in the "File Systems" menu (I'm talking about a 'make xconfig' build here). I've used the NTFS Read-only and had very few problems. Unfortunately, I'm not brave enough to further risk data on the NT servers here so I'm unsure about the read-write. Alhtough, it has probably improved a lot with a newer kernel ;)

The actually filesystem on the Win2k drive doesn't matter for just booting Linux. You can install lilo to the MRB or create a boot floppy. If you're feeling really tricky check out this HOWTO (http://www.concretecow.com/linux/dualboot.html). You can add Linux to the NT/2k boot menu!
