HOW DO I INSTALL AN EXTERNAL 28.8 KBPS MODEM IN LINUX? IS IT THE SAME PROCEDURE AS AN INTERNAL SERIAL PORT MODEM?

If you know how to configure a dial-up PPP account in your distribution of Linux, you just have to tell the software what com port the modem is on. So if it was COM1, it would be /dev/ttyS0, COM2 /dev/ttyS1 and so on. Thats all there is to it.
