i recently picked up an older (~97) pentium 233 from a local university surplus sale. i downloaded Mandrake 8.1, burned a cd, made an install floppy, and tried to install.
when doing this I get the message that an Mandrake CD cannot be found in the CD rom (the CD is seen and named). the installer then tries get a proper driver for my SCSI drive... but I don't have a SCSI drive! it's IDE.
i tried the install floppy/cd on another machine, and it works fine.
i have an old Redhat 5.0 disk/floppy, and that installed with no problem. however, it does not seem to want to mount CDs (a clue perhaps?)
thanks in advance for any ideas.
