Sorry to be absolutley dumb here, but I'm learning, or at least trying to learn.I'm usin the KDE desktop ( I prefer it to Gnome )

Do I have to mount the CDROM and CDWR to the desktop in Mandrake 8.0? I'm sure I have too, but in the case of the CDWR, is it mounted as the dev/hdX or dve/scdX ?

In Mandrake Update, can anyone please let me know the different url options for update sites, the ones I've found on the web so far all seem to be dead.

Lastly, I managed to install and run Netscape 6.1. I've created a short cut on my desktop, but the icon is that of the netscape shell file and the option isn't there in properties to change the icon to a Netscape one. Also, how do I add the new install into the Kmenu - Networking -WWW folder, any ideas?

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

my cdrom is dev/hda cdwrite dev/hdc or dev.scdO

Do I mount these on the desktop then in the case of the cdwriter, change the URL in preferences from dev/hdc to dev/scd0?

To create a new 'shortcut' to the CDroms, do the following:
1. Rightclick (right mousebutton) on the desktop area (anywhere).
2. Select 'Create New -> CDROM Device...'
3. Under the 'Device' tab in the Properties dialog, select the correct device fron the dropdownlist at the top. (usually /mnt/cdrom (your first CDROM) and/or /mnt/cdrom2 (your second CDROM)).
(And no, you don't _have_ to do this if you prefer to browse your CDs from a console).

For the Mandrake Update, there should be a button there with the text 'Update Mirrors'. Do that one, and then check the dropdown list of mirrors.

For the icons, rightclick the icon, select 'Properties...', and click on the icon displayed under the first tab. This lets you choose whatever icon you have available on your system.
Try the 'Menu Editor...' under the 'K-button (Start Button) -> Configure Panel' to edit your menus.

Cheers :)
