Just curious.

Right now I'm using winXP mainly, but have RedHat8.0 installed on a second physical hard drive. I only really use Red Hat when I want to mess around with php, and that kind of thing, so I'm just using a boot disk to load up RH when I need it.

I dont want to reinstall anything now, I finally have my partitions the way I want them, and everything is (mostly) configured the way I want it. But if it's possible to get Lilo to recognize both os's on both hard drives without having to reinstall anything, could somebody please fill me in.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Do you have Lilo installed at present and if so, where?

No, Lilo is not installed. Can I maybe just copy that particular part of the installation files off the cd's, or is the whole thing out of the question if I don't have it installed already?

You can use lilo or the win XP bootloader. There is a HOWTO on it, at www.tldp.org.

Linux+NT-Loader (http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/mini/Linux+NT-Loader) I believe this also works for XP.

Linux+WinNT (http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/mini/Linux+WinNT) Here's how you do it using LILO.

After you've edited your windows "boot.ini",
Open Start>>Settings>>Control Panel>>System. Click on the advanced tab, then
click on Startup And Recovery. In the dialog box, you can choose the default OS
to boot, and the timeout. Make any changes, then close the dialog box and
reboot.
