sound in redhat 7.1

I ran "sndconfig" and got this error message:

"You don't seem to be running a kernel with modular sound enabled(soundcore.o was not found in the module search path)"

Is there another way to setup sound or just no sound?

go to the Multimedia part of your Kmenu and check the sound mixer, mine usually is turned down a little to low and i allways have to turn it up in order to get the audio loud enough to hear...

if you compiled the kernel yourself then you didn't enable sound support.

you probably have to compile a new kernel and include sound as module or boot with the kernel that came with redhat.
