Ok I'm using 2 NICs with redhat 7.1 - one connects to my LAN and the other to my cable modem. the cable modem (CM) NIC uses DHCP and automaticlly gets a name from the server like olx-xx.cable.com . the LAN card is assigned to 192.168.0.1 .
How do I assign a hostname to the LAN card without disrupting the DHCP-acquired name for the CM card? if I change my hostname I cant use the cable modem, and it's such a pain to type in the dynamically-assigned olx-xx names (they change every time i reboot) or 192.168.0.1 every time i want to get to the machine.
any ideas?
thanks,
